A Q&A with "bloom" Artist, Sarah Swan

A few pictures of the 'bloom' reception
and a short Q&A with Artist, Sarah Swan.

Sarah working hard at hanging the last of her framed photographs the night before the reception, above.

Can you imagine these on a full wall in a dining room? Gorgeous!

The Reception, underway!

Now a short Q&A with Artist, Sarah Swan:

1. When did you start getting interested in photography?

Sarah: I have been behind a camera since I knew how to press buttons...ok, maybe not that early, but as far back as I can remember, I have been fascinated with pictures and capturing moments in time and the beauty that is all around us! My first camera came in my Easter basket when I was about 6 or 7. It was a small black and red camera just big enough to hold a roll of 110 film...I don't even know if that film type still exists?! The camera came with a book narrated by a little bear on how to take pictures :) I think I still have it somewhere...

2. This reception was called 'bloom', as it was all a colourful and gorgeous palette of flowers, which obviously inspires you having grown up at your parents farm (Chakarian Farms) in Derry. What else inspires you?

Sarah: Growing up on the farm definitely inspired me in my art. You get to see things grow out of almost nothing...a tiny seed that looks ordinary and insignificant on the outside but has everything it needs inside to grow into something beautiful and produce fruit. The whole process is so cool! I am amazed and inspired daily by God's creation all around us: A breath-taking sunrise....a flower just opening its petals...a baby smiling ear to ear just full of joy and innocence. If I can capture even a glimpse of that beauty then it brings a smile to my heart.

3. Where can we find your work in the future?

Sarah: I am presently working on a blog and website which will hopefully be coming soon! Until then, please feel free to email me at potterybysarah@yahoo.com (pottery is another love of mine ;) and be sure to let me know that you heard about me through Kaza! thanks so much!

Thanks Sarah, we have completely enjoyed having your gorgeous pieces here and working with you! :o) xox
